Student, 10, found with pellet gun, knife in school bag in Hernando County | News | pasconewsonline.com

HERNANDO COUNTY, FLa.- Hernando County deputies are currently investigating an incident at Challenger K-8, located on Elgin Boulevard in Spring Hill, involving allegations of a student having a firearm on campus.

A concerned student notified the School Resource Deputy and the Principal that another student possibly brought a firearm to school. The deputy and the principal immediately made contact with the student in question, a 10-year-old female, and checked her backpack. Golf Umbrella

A search of the student's backpack revealed a pellet gun and a pocketknife, which were both confiscated. The student was detained by the School Resource Deputy.

The student did not make any threats to other students and/or to staff members, nor did she display the pellet gun or pocketknife.

An investigation is underway to determine where she obtained the items from and what her intentions were.
